- Franklin had fought in the Mexican War as a officer.
- He was know as the "Alcoholic President" as he was a heavy drinker.
- Pierce had an obsession of the Civil War. He was pro-slavery.
- Was the first President to present his address from memory it was over 3,000 words long .
- He was the second President of the U.S. to hold office without a Vice President.
- Had a key role in Kansas-Nebraska Act which created two new territories to settlers.
